Faith-Integrated Premarital Counseling in Washington, D.C.
Gain a deeper understanding of your significant other and the dynamics of your relationship before your big day. At Dr. Wright Counseling, LLC, we offer faith-integrated premarital counseling in Washington, D.C., helping engaged couples build a solid foundation for their marriage and future.
Our Approach
Our faith-based counseling solution for engaged couples employs the tested-and-proven approach of the acclaimed Prepare/Enrich program. As a certified facilitator of this program, Dr. Wright utilizes its principles and methodology to strengthen relationships and assist couples in preparing for marriage.
What to Expect
Session One
During this initial session, Dr. Wright gets to know the two of you as a couple and gathers and submits the necessary information to Prepare/Enrich.
Prep-work: Online Relationship Assessment
After receiving an emailed invitation from Prepare/Enrich to take their online premarital survey separately, you and your partner must complete it at least seven days before your second premarital counseling session. Please refrain from discussing the survey with each other while taking the online assessment. Once you both have completed the survey, Dr. Wright will contact you to schedule a discussion and discovery appointment.
Session Two
Dr. Wright will review the assessment results and discuss your relationship’s overall strength and growth areas, as well as topics like conflict resolution, partner style and habits, family dynamics, financial management, sexual expectations, and more.
Session Three
This premarital counseling session focuses on exploring your unique communication styles and patterns. Dr. Wright will introduce a communication style script to you and your partner, allowing you to incorporate it into your marriage as you move forward.
Session Four
During this faith-based counseling session, Dr. Wright will delve deeper into any lingering topics, revisit previously discussed matters, or encourage you to raise personal concerns. If you don’t want additional sessions, this will be your last. You will receive a certificate of completion shortly after if your church or clergy requires it.
FEE: $200 per session
Premarital counseling can be tailored to suit the unique needs of your relationship. While most couples feel prepared for their future after four sessions, others may choose to extend their counseling sessions to five or six sessions to address specific circumstances or areas of focus. If you both opt to continue with additional sessions, please share your decision with each other, and then contact Dr. Wright to discuss the possibility of scheduling additional counseling sessions.
